Recommended Steps
If you think that your contract has been violated, please follow these recommended steps: - Check the A of E contract to find out if the action that has occured is a violation of your contract. The California Education Code is also a valuable source of information.
- Read 'Article X: Grievance' in the contract. It outlines the grievance procedure for both informal and formal levels.
- At the informal level, either try to solve the problem on your own or confer with an A of E Executive Council member for advice. Save copies of all emails and written documentation. If an informal meeting is involved, ask an A of E Executive Council member to attend the meeting with you.
- If the problem is not solved at the informal level, contact Pete McNamara.
- At the formal level, Pete McNamara and Ron Palacz will assist you. A copy of the grievance form to be submitted at this level is located below. Please note, this form needs to be submitted to your immediate supervisor within 25 days of the occurence of the act giving rise to the grievance. The SDCOE is currently developing a grievance form, so we are using this document in the interim.
